Speech Title:

Control Paradigms in the New Era of AI and Machine Learning

Abstract:

Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most important components of technological innovations in recent years. The rise of AI is already transforming many industries, including healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. One of the key drivers of the rise of AI has been the development of machine learning such as deep learning and reinforcement learning. On the other hand, it is envisioned that AI and machine learning techniques will have many applications in the field of automation, and the deep integration of control paradigms with AI and machine learning will become of paramount importance. This lecture will introduce a few control paradigms for intelligent control with the goal of building a uniform framework, including parallel control, cloud control, networked control, agent-based control, and adaptive critic control. Such a uniform framework will be an important step towards the next generation of intelligent control and automation.
